Anti-aggression Training

Anti-aggression training – constructive handling of anger and conflict

What is anti-aggression training?

Anti-aggression training is aimed at people who have difficulty controlling their impulses, anger, or aggressive reactions – whether in professional, private, or public situations. The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of their own emotions, develop non-violent behavioral alternatives, and promote self-determined, socially acceptable behavior in the long term.

Aggressive behavior often arises from inner tension, excessive demands, fear, insults, or the feeling of not being heard or respected. Training helps identify these triggers and develop new courses of action.

Who is the training suitable for?

Anti-aggression training can be useful for:

  • frequent irritability or “explosive” behavior
  • Conflicts in partnership, family or work
  • physical or verbal outbursts
  • Difficulty with impulse control or setting boundaries
  • Conditions imposed by court measures or probation
  • personal desire for better emotion regulation

Goals of the training:

  • Recognizing personal aggression patterns and their causes
  • Development of body and emotional awareness
  • Strengthening self-control and impulse regulation
  • Learning de-escalating communication strategies
  • Development of socially acceptable conflict resolution
  • Strengthening self-responsibility and empathy

Training schedule

Anti-aggression training takes place in individual sessions or—depending on the context—in small groups. Its content is based on behavioral therapy methods, role-playing exercises, and self-reflection exercises. Typical modules include:

  1. Preliminary diagnostic interview
Clarification of the initial situation, motivation, and training goals – also to distinguish between impulsive, reactive, or strategic aggressive behavior.
  2. Emotion and Impulse Analysis
How do anger and aggression arise within me? What thoughts or stimuli precede them? How do I recognize early warning signs?
  3. De-escalation strategies
Teaching concrete techniques to interrupt aggressive escalations (e.g. stop techniques, internal self-talk, body language control).
  4. Communication and conflict training
Development of verbal strategies for respectful conflict resolution – with a focus on assertiveness without violence.
  5. Taking responsibility
Reflectively dealing with the consequences of one’s own behavior, possibly with a view to empathy for victims and social reparation.
  6. Relapse prevention
Development of personal “emergency plans” for critical situations and long-term stabilization of acquired skills.

What are the benefits of anti-aggression training?

Participants often experience significant relief in their daily lives because they learn to recognize stressful situations early and remain empowered to act. Their relationships with themselves and others improve—as do their self-esteem, social standing, and personal quality of life.

Important: Aggression is not an “evil” impulse, but often an expression of an unresolved inner conflict. The goal of the training is not to suppress emotions—but to manage them consciously, respectfully, and responsibly.

If you feel that your anger is sometimes stronger than you are, I would be happy to accompany you on the path to more self-control, inner peace and new scope for action.
