IQ Test

Intelligence Diagnostics (IQ Test) – Clarity About Cognitive Strengths and Potential

Introduction and Objectives

Intelligence assessment in adults serves to gain a differentiated picture of mental performance. This involves not only determining an overall IQ score, but also a precise analysis of cognitive strengths and potential weaknesses. The results can provide important information for career decisions, therapeutic measures, or personal development.

What is being measured?

Modern IQ tests consist of different sub-areas that measure different aspects of cognitive performance:

  • Linguistic thinking: vocabulary, language comprehension and the ability to understand linguistic-logical connections.
  • Logical and analytical thinking: Dealing with numbers, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Visual-spatial imagination: pattern recognition, spatial thinking and processing of visual information.
  • Working memory: The ability to store and process information in the short term and to use it flexibly in thinking.
  • Processing speed: Efficiency in absorbing and implementing information under time pressure.

These areas result in an individual performance profile that goes far beyond a simple IQ number.

When is intelligence diagnostics useful?

Testing can be helpful in various life situations:

  • In the case of professional questions: e.g. in the context of a reorientation, excessive demands or the desire for targeted further development.
  • To clarify talent or performance limits: for example, if giftedness is suspected or if persistent exhaustion occurs despite great effort.
  • In the therapeutic context: for a better assessment of cognitive prerequisites in psychotherapy or when specific learning disabilities are suspected.
  • For expert opinions or applications: e.g. in the context of aptitude tests, rehabilitation procedures or legal issues.

Testing procedure

  1. Preliminary consultation:
In a non-binding initial consultation, we will clarify the background of the testing, your questions, and your life history to date.
  2. Test administration:
The test itself takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. It uses recognized, scientifically validated procedures that assess various cognitive domains.
  3. Evaluation:
The results will be evaluated in detail – I will consider not only the test results, but also your personal situation and observations from the interview.
  4. Discussion of findings & expert opinion:
In a final consultation, I will explain the results to you in detail. Upon request, you will receive a written report that clearly summarizes the findings and provides clear recommendations. This report is usually available within a few weeks.
