Online Therapy – Flexible, secure and location-independent psychological support
What is Online Therapy?
Online therapy offers the opportunity to receive psychological support and psychotherapeutic sessions via a secure video connection – without having to travel, in a familiar environment, and with the greatest possible flexibility in scheduling. It is aimed at adults seeking professional help who are tied to a specific location, have health issues, or are heavily involved in their careers.
The quality of online therapy is demonstrably not significantly different in its effectiveness from traditional on-site sessions – provided the technology is right and the therapeutic relationship can develop in a trusting atmosphere.
When is online therapy useful?
Online therapy can be a good alternative or complement for:
- acute mental stress or crises
- depressive moods, anxiety, stress or exhaustion
- Difficulties in everyday life, in relationships or in the professional environment
- psychological overload in chronic illnesses
- Residence in rural areas or stay abroad
- lack of mobility or time flexibility
How does online therapy work?
The online therapy is structurally based on classical psychotherapy – with the difference that the sessions take place via a certified, GDPR-compliant video platform.
- Initial contact and appointment scheduling
After a brief initial contact in writing or by phone, we will arrange a non-binding initial consultation. This will allow us to get to know each other and clarify your concerns. Technical questions can also be discussed in a relaxed atmosphere. - Video Therapy Sessions
The sessions take place in a safe, secure setting via video, from a quiet location of your choosing. We work together to address your issues, resources, and goals. Methods from cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion-focused work, systemic therapy, or mindfulness practice can be integrated, tailored to your individual needs. - Supporting Materials and Exercises
Depending on your needs, you will receive supporting materials, reflection questions, or exercises that you can use between sessions to deepen and reinforce the therapeutic content. - Duration and Frequency
The frequency and duration of sessions depend on your life situation and therapeutic needs. Weekly, bi-weekly, or flexible appointments are possible.
Requirements for online therapy
- stable internet access
- a quiet, undisturbed place for conversations
- a laptop, tablet or smartphone with camera and microphone
- a certain openness to the digital format
Important: In acute crises (e.g. suicidal thoughts or acute psychotic conditions), online therapy is not sufficient – in such cases, personal treatment on site or contact with a crisis service is necessary.
What are the advantages of online therapy?
- location-independent, even when traveling, moving or abroad
- time-efficient, as no travel is necessary
- lower barrier to entry
- therapeutic continuity even during life changes
- Possibility of integration into everyday life
Therapy – in person, also online
Online therapy offers you professional, personalized support – in a setting that adapts to your life. You can open up, reflect, and take steps toward change from home – with the same confidentiality, care, and therapeutic depth as in a physical practice.
If you are considering whether online therapy is right for you, I would be happy to answer your questions in a non-binding initial consultation.
